TWO TRUST FUNDS WORK TO EXCHANGE LANDS
The University of Utah has recently identified two sections of school trust lands in the Range Creek area of Emery County that have nationally significant archaeological resources. These sections are adjacent to the University's ongoing research efforts at the former Waldo Wilcox ranch. With the consent of both the university and the school trust beneficiaries, these school lands are being administratively exchanged to the university grant account; and university lands of equal value near St. George will become school trust lands. This transfer allows the university to protect and use the Range Creek properties for research purposes, while permitting trust lands to generate revenues for Utah's public schools from development of the St. George lands.
