Trust Administration Offers Land At Auction

An auction on October 3, 1997, will offer several different state trust land parcels for sale -- a total of about 2,360 acres. The auction will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the auditorium of the Department of Natural Resources Building, 1594 West North Temple in Salt Lake City. The auction is being held by the State of Utah School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration. The properties: Four 10-acre lots near the top of Monroe Mountain in Fishlake National Forest 86 acres about two miles south of Torrey, Utah, at the base of Boulder Mountain 200 acres on the east boundary of Zion National Park 792 acres just west of Koosharem reservoir, one mile north of Burrville, Utah 640 acres seven miles southeast of Delta on U.S. 50 40 acres northeast of Green River, Utah 565 acres about six miles south of Snowville, Utah Financing is available and licensed Utah real estate brokers may qualify for a 3% commission on sales. The Trust Lands Administration sells real estate as one of several activities in the management of trust lands for the financial benefit of Utah's schools and other public institutions. In the case of lands managed for public schools, the proceeds go into the permanent State School Fund, which is never spent. One key objective of the Trust Lands Administration is to build the permanent fund, which has grown from $37 million in 1990 to more than $130 million at the end of fiscal year 1997. The earnings on the permanent fund are distributed to schools. The School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration is an independent state agency which manages 3.7 million acres of Utah trust lands.
