TRUST LANDS ADMINISTRATION HIRES NEW ATTORNEY
The School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration announces the appointment of Michelle McConkie as assistant legal counsel for the agency. The appointment was made by Trust Lands Director, Kevin Carter and Associate Director, John Andrews.
Ms. McConkie received her J.D. degree in 2002 from the University of Utah S. J. Quinney College of Law, and her undergraduate degree in political science at the U of U. She started her career as a law clerk for Trust Lands in 2001 where she researched and drafted memoranda concerning issues in natural resource, environmental, real property, and contract law.
Prior to her recent return to Trust Lands, Ms. McConkie was an Associate Attorney at the Salt Lake City law firm of Lear & Lear. Her emphasis was on the acquisition, exploration, permitting and production of oil, gas and mining properties. She also assisted in litigation and appeals before courts and administrative agencies.
"We are delighted with Michelles decision to join the Trust Lands Administration," says Associate Trust Lands Director John Andrews. "Her education and work experiences are a great match for the projects shell have here."
The School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration is an independent state agency which manages 3.5 million acres of Utah trust lands for the benefit of Utahs schools and other public institutions.
